This week the biggest event was the beta of google chrome. Everyone was excited at the office with this big news !

So the war of the browser is taking a new dimension. As the CEO of Mizilla is saying, it's a good thing that a new participant is coming in the race... the benefit is for all the users. For myself I have a big waiting of the new google's cellular plateform : Android. This month HTC should release the first device with this brand new technology. So the war of the mobile phones is still going on with some new competitors... As we can see the tech world is shaken by google ! from my point of view I enjoy Google because they are making the things going further and this is good.

So, what about Chrome :

1. It's amazing how fast it starts. Firefox is looking like a big and slow program in regards of that. So for that reason, I like it.

2. The design. It's a pretty design, simple and performant. Firefox is looking a little bit more sad with it's old fashion grey (like application in windows 3.1...)

3. The usability (end user) for day to day browsing, no problem, simple and fast. I like the url bar which is acting as a search engine. Brillant.Firefox is as good as Chrome for that.

4. The usability (web designer). Chrome seems to have some pretty nice tools for debugging and trapping javascript. Firefox is ready too with some excellent extension like firebug.

5. The speed : the javascript engine is amazing. It will put the google apps on steroïds. Firefox will follow and improve very soon its javascript engine. Concurrence is good !

6. Bookmark management : I don't enjoy it, I prefer the firefox way.

7. Global impression : Google Chrome is an excellent product (it's only a beta !!) and I will use it for my main browsing.

And what about IE in my review... IE, I don't use this crap software.  So in conclusion, the best thing you should do is to have a look by yourself.

Bingkai foto digital sekarang bukan sesuatu yang aneh lagi sekarang. Bingkai foto digital telah "menjamur" di mana-mana. T.Photo ini tergolong lengkap fiturnya dibandingkan dengan bingkai foto digital lainnya, sebut saja fitur kalendar, jam digital, alarm, radio, dan music player. Menurut saya, bingkai foto digital ini lebih mirip dengan PMP (Portable Multimedia Player) daripada bingkai foto digital. T.Photo ini juga memiliki kemampuan me-rotate gambar menyesuaikan posisi gambar yang ada, baik portrait maupun landscape.

i attended part of barcamp hong kong 2008 today and learned about a lot of cool new stuff.  among the things catching my eye was a demonstration of an open source app called levelhead, created by julian oliver of australia as a spatial memory game.  i'm not sure whether this would more accurately be considered art or a game, but there is no question that it is cool.  it's actually been around for about a year so i may be late to the party.

it is setup by using cubes with barcode-like designs imprinted on each side.  these are viewed with a webcam and the app decodes the bar code into a game screen.  each cube represents a room in which a small figure resides.  by tilting, flipping, and moving the cube, the figure will walk in the direction you choose.  the object is to pass through appropriate doorways in a given amount of time.  that's probably a pretty crappy explanation, so check it out in the video below.

Review menggunakan koneksi Indosat 3.5G Broadband unlimited hanya Rp.100rb/bln flat + PPN :) (resminya sih segitu).

Tapi  yang saya pakai jalur tidak resmi, tidak pakai survey, tidak pakai KTP, tidak perlu repot ke galeri Indosat, cukup sediakan uang Rp.165.000 / bulan flat unlimited. Caranya? coba cari aja lewat Google hehehe.

Koneksi yang di dapat (resminya) 256kbps untuk 2GB pertama, setelah itu turun menjadi 64kbps, terus bulan berikutnya kembali ke 256kbps lagi.

Tetapi pada prakteknya, kok saya bisa tembus 256kbps ya? Bahkan sampai 3.6Mbps (mungkin bisa lebih, soalnya modem yang saya pakai Sierra Wireless AirCard 875U USB, yang maksimum kecepatannya ya itu tadi 3.6Mbps).

Kecepatan segitu  bisa diperoleh kalau saya download file di server lokal (misal di www.indowebster.com) pagi hari sekitar jam 7-an gitu deh. Kalau malam paling sekitar 1.6Mbps (kira-kira 200 KB/s). Sudah sangat lebih dari cukup, daripada pakai Telkomsel Flash yang unlimited juga. (di daerah saya Telkomsel Flash cuma bisa dipakai di jaringan EDGE/GPRS saja, padahal signal 3G juga dapat, cuma waktu dipakai untuk koneksi ke Internet tidak bisa , udah berkali-kali komplain ke customer service via website www.telkomsel.com, tetap saja sama hasilnya, disuruh mencoba secara berkala....).

Koneksi Indosat ini agak aneh, untuk browsing ke situs www.indowebster.com ternyata tidak bisa ? lho?
Ternyata kesalahannya ada pada DNS nya, untuk itu DNS nya perlu di set manual, mesti diganti ini nih biar bisa:

NAKULA.INDOSAT.COM (202.152.161.227)
NS2.INDOSAT.COM (202.152.165.36)
NS3.INDOSAT.COM (202.152.165.39)
NS4.INDOSAT.COM (202.93.40.174)
SADEWA.INDOSAT.COM (202.152.161.229)

pilih 2 saja dari pilihan di atas ya. untuk pengguna Sierra cara ubahnya gampang, dari Software 3G Watcher, click menu Tools, Options, Profiles terus pilih profile yang digunakan untuk konek ke Indosat3G, lalu pada bagian Advanced, DNS Settings, isi dengan:

Primary DNS:  202.152.161.227
Secondary DNS:  202.152.161.229

click OK, beres dah :)

NB: Setting Profile:
Profile Name: Indosat3G (apa saja juga boleh)
Username: indosat
Password: indosat
APN:  indosat3g

Untuk IP yang diperoleh di Client (di PC kita) adalah IP lokal (private) modelnya 10.x.x.x gitu, jadi ga bisa dipakai untuk connect dari luar gitu, misalnya kita tidak bisa jalankan Web Server terus diakses dari PC lain lewat internet, contoh lainnya Torrent, kita tidak perlu buka port, karena memang tidak bisa diakses dari luar, tapi Torrent masih bisa jalan loh tanpa perlu buka port.

Kalau untuk soal IP ini TelkomselFlash dengan APN internet (FYI, TelkomselFlash bisa pakai 2 APN internet atau telkomsel), maka IP yang diperoleh di Client (PC kita)  adalah IP publik, jadi bisa diakses dari luar, mungkin ini kelebihan dari TelkomselFlash.

Tapi apapun itu baik Indosat ataupun Telkomsel (XL kapan ya? ), yang penting adalah sudah unlimited dengan harga yang terjangkau.
